Burnaby, BC – The official Canada Games Flag is set to fly outside Burnaby’s City Hall from December 13-15, 2010 as it makes a trek across the country leading up to the Opening Ceremonies for the 2011 Canada Winter Games in Halifax in February 2011. Burnaby co-hosted the Canada Summer Games with New Westminster in 1973.
The official Canada Games flag will fly in each past Canada Games Host Communities for three days before being sent to the next community. The flag began its journey in Whitehorse, Yukon on December 3rd and travelled through Grand Prairie, AB; Kamloops, BC and is now in Burnaby. Following Burnaby, the flag will travel east across the country stopping in 15 communities until it arrives in Halifax on February 10, 2011.
