Ontario and Alberta take lead in Pool B in women’s curling

Halifax, NS – Team Alberta and Team Ontario are 2-0 after draw 3 of Canada Gmes women’s curling competition at the Mayflower Curling Club.

Ontario jumped to an early lead against Prince Edward Island.  Team Ontario scored 2 in the 1st end, stole a single in the 3rd to take a 3-1 lead heading into the second half of the game.  Prince Edward Island rallied back and took the lead scoring 4 points in the next 3 ends. Ontario rebounded with a duce in 7th and PEI got their single in 8th to force the extra end.  On Amanda MacLean’s skip of PEI, last rock of the extra end, she attempted a double take out.  Her rock under curled leaving Ontario lieing 1 and the win.

In the other morning games, Alberta defeated Yukon 5-3, Newfoundland Labrador got their first win with a 7-1 victory over Quebec and it took the Northwest Territories and extra end to defeat Manitoba 7-6.  The win is the first for the team from NT and leaves Manitoba winless.
