NB and NS Qualify for Quarters in Men’s Hockey

New Brunswick  6 – Prince Edward Island 2

(Halifax, N.S.) Noah Zilbert’s short-handed goal in the second period would stand up as the game winner for New Brunswick as they defeated Maritime rival Prince Edward Island 6-2 at the Metro Centre.

Zachary Whitlock led the way offensively for New Brunswick scoring 2 goals. New Brunswick will face Alberta in a quarter-final matchup on Wednesday night in Dartmouth.

Nova Scotia 7—Newfoundland 2

(Dartmouth, N.S.) Nathan MacKinnon’s 3 goal and 5 point performance catapulted Nova Scotia to their first victory in men’s hockey in the qualification round over Newfoundland.

Cole Murphy added a pair of goals to pace the home side in front of a good crowd at the Dartmouth Sportsplex. The win for Nova Scotia earns them a quarterfinal match up against Ontario Wednesday night at the Metro Centre.
