Wheelchair Basketball – Team Ontario 66 – Team Manitoba 42

(Halifax, NS) – Team Ontario finished round robin play with a perfect 3-0 record following at victory over Team Manitoba by a score of 66-42.

Ontario started strong and held a 24-6 edge at the end of the first quarter.  At the end of the first half, Ontario expanded the lead to 42-12.

Shooting accuracy was the difference in this match-up.  Ontario shot 43.1% from the field while limiting Manitoba’s shooting prowess to 27.8%.  Ontario outscored Manitoba 15-3 from beyond the three point line, dropping 5 of 10 attempts.  Manitoba converted 1 out of 9 three point attempts.

Dayton Sopha’s hot hand showed no signs of cooling off.  He picked up another double-double, scoring a game-high 25 points, 18 rebounds and 8 assists for Ontario. Jesse McNalley chimed in with 18 points and 3 rebounds.

Manitoba finished strong, outscoring Ontario 20-6 in the fourth quarter but could not overcome the deficit.  The team completed round robin play with a 1-2 record.

Jess Stromberg went 6-for-9 from the field to finish with 12 points for Manitoba.  Jeff Watson also scored 12 points, along with 12 rebounds and 5 steals to pick up one of two double-doubles for Manitoba. The other belonged to Aaron Moseley-Williams, who scored 10 points, 12 rebounds and 6 steals.

#2 Ontario (3-0) will play its next game against TBD Wednesday February 16 at 3:00PM.

#3 Manitoba (1-2) will face TBD Wednesday February 16 at TBD.
