Alberta, BC, Ontario and Quebec Advance to Semis in Men’s Hockey

Ontario 5 – Nova Scotia 3

(Halifax, N.S.) Ontario punched its ticket to the semi-finals after a tough battle with the hosts from Nova Scotia, winning 5-3.

Ryan Kujawinski had a goal and assist to lead Ontario while Nathan MacKinnon scored for Nova Scotia, his 4th goal in the last two games.

Ontario will move on to the semi-finals to play B.C. while Nova Scotia will play Manitoba in the relegation round.

Alberta 3—New Brunswick 2

(Dartmouth, N.S.) Mason Geertsen’s  goal early in the third period would stand as the winner for Alberta who defeated New Brunswick 3-2.

It was the second time in the tournament that Alberta has beaten New Brunswick by only one goal.

Alberta will now face Quebec in the semi-finals while New Brunswick faces off against Saskatchewan in the relegation round.

Quebec 4 – Saskatchewan 3

(Halifax, N.S.) Anthony De Luca’s four point performance for Quebec led them to a slim 4-3 win over a scrappy Saskatchewan team.

Jérémy Grégoire has a pair of goals for Quebec and Anthony Duclair had 3 points in the win. Jarrett Fontaine had a pair of markers to lead Saskatchewan.

With the win, Quebec will head to the semi-finals at 4:00pm on Thursday at the Metro Centre 

British Columbia 4—Manitoba 2

(Dartmouth, N.S.) British Columbia came from behind after trailing 2-1 to Manitoba scoring three third period goals en route to their quarter-final win.

Curtis Lazar paced B.C. with a pair of goals. Manitoba was outshot 37-21 in the game. B.C. now heads to the semi-finals on Thursday while Manitoba will play in the relegation round.

Newfoundland and Labrador 7—Yukon 1

(Halifax, N.S.) Newfoundland and Labrador avenged an earlier tournament loss with a 7-1 win in the placement game at the Metro Centre.

Kris Hodge led the way for Newfoundland with a goal and an assist. They will continue in the placement round tomorrow at the Dartmouth Sportsplex.

Prince Edward Island 8 — Northwest Territories 3

(Dartmouth, N.S.) Nathan Ellis, Kameron Kielly and Evan Morrison each had two goal efforts for Prince Edward Island in their 8-3 romp over the Nortwest Territories.

P.E.I. outshot N.W.T. 51-25 in Placement round action. P.E.I. will now battle Newfoundland for the 9/10th seed game and N.W.T. will face Yukon in the 11/12th seed game.
