British Columbia and Alberta advance to final in women’s curling

Halifax, NS – In front of a full crowd at the Mayflower Curling Club, Team Nova Scotia faced off against Alberta in the first semi final game of the morning.  The game was close until the 5th end with a miss shot by Nova Scotia and Alberta was able to score 4 points and to take the lead 5-3.  Nova Scotia had an opportunity to score two points in the 6th but had to settle for 1 and a score of 5-4.  In the 7th, Alberta skip was drawing for another 4 points on her last stone, it slid through the house and they scored 3 points, increasing the score to 8-4.  Nova Scotia was not able to rebound with one end to go.  Alberta ran NS out of rocks and the girls from Alberta were off to the gold medal game. 

In other semi final, Ontario fell to British Columbia by a score of 1-4.  The game was tied 1-1 heading into the 4th end break.  British Columbia scored 2 points in the 5th, the 6th was blanked and then BC stole a single in the 7th to increase their lead by 3.  Ontario were not able to get their rocks in position and BC ran them out of stones.  The final was 4-1 for BC.

Gold Game – Friday, February 18th at 7:30 p.m. Alberta vs British Columbia
