Halifax, NS – British Columbia wins gold and Alberta will take home the silver medal in women’s curling at the 2011 Canada Winter Games.
Fans at the Mayflower Curling Club could not have asked for a more exciting final in women’s curling. British Columbia got on the board first with a single point in the 3rd end. The next three ends were played very open, with Ontario blanking the 4th and 5th to keep hammer and then they were forced to take 1 in the 6th to tie the game 1-1. It took 7 ends for a team to score more then one point. After a number of great executed shots, BC had a hit for 2 points and the lead 4-2. BC played an excellent 8th end and never gave Alberta the opportunity to get back into the game. The final was 4-2 for the team from the other coast!
Congratulations to all the curlers for an excellent week of curling!
