Halifax, NS – New Brunswick took an extra end to defeat by a score of 6-5. Nova Scotia took the early lead. They scored a single in the 1st and then went on to steal singles in the 2nd and 3rd end. NB got on the board when they scored 2 points in 4th. The score was 3-2 for Nova Scotia heading into the 4th end break. Nova Scotia was forced to score a single in the 5th end, taking their lead to 4-2. NB countered in the 6th with 2 points and tied the game. NB stole a point in the 7th to take the lead for the first time in the game. In the 8th end down 1 point, NS had the draw for 2 points and the win, skip Robert Mayhew came up short. NS scored a single to tie the game and head into the extra end. In the extra end, NS drew to the top 12 foot to force NB to draw for the win. NB swept the rock most of the way down the ice then backed off at the top of the house. The rock kept sliding, Nova Scotia hammered it when it reach the tee line. The rock stopped barely a couple of inches from not counting. NB scored 1 and won the game taking their record to 2-0 and Nova Scotia dropped to 1-1.
In other games, Saskatchewan defeated Quebec 7-3. Both teams move to 1-1 records. Alberta put together a number of big ends to defeat Newfoundland Labrador 12-5. Alberta scored 3 in the 3rd end, stole 3 in the 4th and another 4 in the 5th. In the final game, Yukon doubled Manitoba 6-3.
