Alberta moves to top spot of Pool B with win over Yukon

Halifax, NS – In the morning draw at the Mayflower Curling Club, Alberta moves to a 2-0 record and top spot in Pool B with their 6-5 victory over Team Yukon.  Alberta took an early lead with 2 points in the 1st and then back to back steals in the 2nd and 3rd to take a 5-0 lead.  Yukon got on the board in the 4th with a single point, then scored a duce in the 6th and stole a single in the 7th.  The score was 6-4 for Alberta heading into the last end.  But Alberta sealed the victory with a single in the 8th to make it 7-4.

In the other games, Newfoundland won their first game with a win over British Columbia 5-2.  Manitoba scored a 6 ender in the 4th to take a 9-1 lead over Ontario.  Ontario couldn’t recover, the final was 11-5 for Manitoba.  Now both teams sit with a 1-1 record.  In the final game of the morning, the Northwest Territories scored 5 to Prince Edward Islands 2 points.
