Daily Recap for Table Tennis – Tuesday February 22

Tuesday morning and afternoon sessions consisted of boys doubles, girls doubles and mixed doubles while the evening session was continuation of the team event that took place all day Monday,

In boys doubles, Ontario advanced to the gold medal final with a 3-0 win over Manitoba.  Ontario’s opponent will be British Columbia as they defeated Quebec in a hard fought match by the score of 3-2.  Quebec will now play Nova Scotia, who beat PEI 3-0 and Manitoba will play Alberta, who had a 3-1 win over Newfoundland and Labrador.  The winners of the double matches – Nova Scotia vs. Quebec and Alberta vs. Manitoba will play for the bronze medal.

The semi-finals are set for the girls doubles.  Ontario will play Alberta, who defeated Saskatchewan 3-1 in the quarter-finals.  British Columbia will play Quebec in the other semi-final.  Quebec beat Manitoba 3-0 in the quarters.

In the mixed doubles, the semi-finals matchups will be Ontario vs. British Columbia and Quebec vs. Alberta.  In the quarter-finals, BC topped Manitoba 3-2 and Alberta defeated Nova Scotia 3-0.

In the boys team event, British Columbia defeated Alberta 3-0 and Quebec also beat Nova Scotia 3-0.  BC and Alberta will now meet in the bronze medal match.  Nova Scotia will play Alberta for 5th spot.  PEI and Saskatchewan will play for 7th after PEI topped Newfoundland and Labrador 3-1 and Saskatchewan bested Yukon 3-0.  Yukon and Newfoundland win play for 9th spot.  Nunavut finished in 11th.  Ontario and Manitoba already advanced to the gold medal match on Monday night.  The gold medal, bronze medal and placement team matches will take place Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

In the girls team event, British Columbia defeated Saskatchewan 3-0 and Ontario bested Manitoba 3-0.  BC and Ontario will now meet in the bronze medal match.  Saskatchewan and Manitoba will play for 5th.  Nova Scotia will play Nunavut for 7th after Nova Scotia defeated Newfoundland and Labrador 3-0 and Nunavut beat PEI 3-1.  PEI and Newfoundland and Labrador will playoff for 9th.  Quebec and Alberta already advanced to the gold medal match on Monday night.  The gold medal, bronze medal and placement team matches will take place Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
