Alberta Heading to Semis After Shutting Out PEI 12-0

Prince Edward Island 0 – Alberta 12

Karlee Odland (Vauxhall, Alta.) scored all three of her goals in the second period to earn her hat trick and help Alberta to as 12-0 victory over Prince Edward Island during quarterfinal action Thursday night at the Halifax Metro Centre.

Melissa Kueber (St. Alberta, Alta.) and Erika Sowchuck (Cochrane, Alta.) also contributed a couple of markers apiece to the shutout win, while Amy Helfrich (Cochrane, Alta.), Jessica Kampjes (Bon Accord, Alta.), Eden Murray (Medicine Hat, Alta.), Bryanne Panchuk (Calgary, Alta.) and Samantha Sutherland (Cochrane, Alta.) all had singles.

Prince Edward Island’s two netminders Hayden Pridham (Alberton, P.E.I.) and Catherine Wood (Albany, P.E.I.) together faced a barrage of Alberta shots throughout all three periods, including 17 in the second alone and 38 total.

Alberta takes on Saskatchewan in semifinals Friday at 7:30 p.m. on the Metro Centre ice, while Prince Edward Island is matched up against Manitoba at the same time inside the Sportsplex for the regulation round.
